Passing the gavel: ELIO closes a chapter under ‘The Legacy Continues’

President Hannah Toofanee closed her term and installed a new slate of officers at a session built around the theme ‘The Legacy Continues.’

ELIO's session on 15 June 2025 carried the weight of transition. Toastmaster of the Day Upved Chooromonay led the meeting under the theme ‘The Legacy Continues,’ and President Hannah Toofanee used the occasion to reflect on a term she measured not in titles, but in the members who found their voice along the way.

Speeches from Ridhwaan Bundhun, Sawan Mungroo, and Jess, evaluated respectively by Yashita Ramduny, Gawree, and Devina, anchored the session, while Table Topics, led by Ibraheem, drew Shazia, outgoing President Bhavish Ramdharry, and a group of guests onto the floor.

Jess was voted Best Speaker, Devina Best Evaluator, and Shazia Best Table Topics Speaker. General Evaluator Meetusha, with Timer Dushali, Ah-Counter Sewin, and Grammarian Vanshinee, closed out the formal roles.

The session's centrepiece came at the end, when President Hannah formally installed the incoming officers and passed the gavel to President-Elect Sewin Sungkur, closing her term with a simple charge to the club: never let anyone dim your light.
