Session 115: Let Them, Let Me

More than 55 members and guests packed the room for a session on what we can and cannot control — and left with a philosophy, not just a theme.

Session 115 drew one of ELIO’s largest crowds of the year — more than 55 people — for a theme that felt less like a Toastmasters prompt and more like a shared moment of reflection. Toastmaster of the Day Hannah F. Toofanee built the session around "Let Them" and its counterpart, "Let Me": let others be who they are, and focus instead on what you can control — your response, your thoughts, your emotions.

General Evaluator Ben delivered a calm, sharp report that tied the session together. Speakers Naseer, Dushali, and Ayushee gave speeches marked by honesty and courage, while evaluators Zayyaan, Melodia, and Nikhil offered feedback the room could act on immediately — Nikhil was voted Best Speaker for a second time.

Topics Master Ridhwaan ran a lively Table Topics segment with Mareesha, Faeeza, and Michael, and Mareesha took home the Best Table Topics Speaker award. Zakariyyah closed the educational segment with a session on mastering evaluations, and Sharmila’s Listening Post activity had the room laughing and competing until the very end.
