Session 101: ‘Be the Light,’ a Divali celebration

ELIO marked Divali with its 101st session, themed ‘Be the Light,’ complete with traditional attire, a lamp-lighting moment, and a Best Speaker win for President Sewin.

ELIO's 101st session, inspired by the spirit of Divali, carried the theme ‘Be the Light’ through every part of the meeting. Toastmaster of the Day Renooka, in traditional attire, opened with an activity in which members shared something inspiring about one another, using light as its central image.

The session's speeches leaned into authenticity: Jaken and Pranav delivered Ice Breakers, Sawan brought energy to the room, Melodia and Meetusha spoke with grace, Ridhwaan drew laughs, and President Sewin closed with a personal Divali story that earned him Best Speaker honours. During the break, members lit lamps together, a quiet moment of unity that captured the session's theme.

Evaluators Nikhil, Shazia, and Sharmila shared Best Evaluator honours, with first-time evaluators Jihaad and Kiara also taking the floor. VPM Devina served as General Evaluator, and Shil timed his first session. For a room already decorated for the occasion, it was less a meeting than a celebration: of light, courage, and connection.
