Session 100: ELIO marks a century of meetings aboard the Currybou Express
ELIO celebrated its 100th session with a trip to Chamarel, reuniting with founding members Raksha Boodhoo and Madhav Meetarbhan.
ELIO marked its 100th session on 11 October 2025 with a departure from the usual meeting room: a trip aboard the Currybou Express to Chamarel. The day opened along the Black River Trail before the club gathered at La Table de Currybou, where founding Presidents Raksha Boodhoo and Madhav Meetarbhan joined members to share the story of the club's earliest days, as Mauritius's first bilingual Toastmasters club.
Toastmasters of the Day Devina and Vanshinee ran the day as a mix of challenges, collaborative games, tongue twisters, and shared storytelling, with President Sewin Sungkur and members Rachel and Ridhwaan on hand throughout. A round-table discussion led by Madhav Meetarbhan asked a question that lingered with the room: why did we join Toastmasters, and why do we choose to stay?
Immediate Past President and Area Director Hannah Toofanee closed out the celebration, a fixture at every ELIO milestone. The session's hundredth meeting wasn't only a celebration; it was a marker on the club's long-standing path toward its founding ambition: twenty years, twenty presidents.
